Support our work

Help make smell loss visible.

Anosmia Awareness has been built and run on community support since 2012, with no paid staff. Donations pay for the work people actually see: Anosmia Awareness Day every February 27, the research summaries and guides on this site, and the partnerships with the smell and taste centers doing the science. In 2027 the day turns fifteen, and we want it to reach further than any year before. Gifts of any size help, and every one is tax-deductible.

Employer matching gifts

Ask your HR department, or look up your company in Double the Donation or your employer’s giving portal. Email us at daniel@anosmiaawareness.org if a matching form needs counter-signing.

Why we ask

Smell loss affects roughly one in twenty people, and an estimated one in five adults has some degree of it. Millions more lost their sense of smell during the COVID-19 pandemic. Almost none of them can name an organization that works on it.

Anosmia Awareness exists to close that gap. We publish the guides people find when they first go looking for an explanation. We run the only day in the world dedicated to smell loss, observed every February 27 since 2012. We put the condition in front of clinicians who were never trained to look for it.

Your donation funds that work directly.

What your gift supports

Donations keep this site free to read and free of advertising, with no paywall on anything we publish. They fund the guides still being written, on living safely without a sense of smell, on what to expect after COVID, and on how clinicians should assess and refer.

They also support Anosmia Awareness Day, which reaches its fifteenth year on February 27, 2027.

Your donation is tax deductible

Anosmia Awareness Inc is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States, EIN 85-3623367. Donations from US taxpayers are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and a receipt is emailed as soon as your gift is processed.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
